What Is This?
The Parent Orientation Program is a program designed to inform, educate and empower parents on how to successfully navigate the Juvenile Justice System. The aim is to provide parents with the tools to prevent future delinquent activities by their children. The group consists of a body of parents, brought together under the guidance and direction of the Juvenile Probation Department in Markham Illinois.
POP Goal
The purpose of POP is to educate and empower a collective body of parents in the Southland area about the Juvenile Justice System. Another goal is to increase the knowledge of parents so that they are fully informed as to their role in impacting the system and the success of the youth involved! Research suggests that the more parents participate in their children’s life, the greater their success! Ultimately because of this group, parents will come together to support each other and work on salient issues affecting youth and families to bridge the divide into the criminal justice system.
